Enrol in either course to grow orchids and change your life.

Your garden lacks colour and originality? For a garden with real impact try growing orchids in your garden's natural setting. Our Course in Growing Orchids in Your Garden Landscape will teach you how to grow orchids in your conditions and in your climate. You'll learn how to grow orchids in your garden on trees, in rockeries and garden beds, in your courtyard, on your patio, your verandah or balcony and actually inside your house or apartment.

Perhaps you admire those showy Cymbidiums with their arching sprays of flowers and clusters of sword-shaped leaves. You can grow these orchids when you've learned how, they're so easy to grow and you can have them blooming year after year at your place. Many of us love those delicate-looking white or pink moth orchids - the fabulous Phalaenopsis. They're the world's most favourite flowering indoor plant and if you love them too, you'll learn how to grow these orchids right inside your house.

Flashy Cattleyas, yellow dancing lady Oncidiums, blue Vandas and their relatives, jewelled Dendrobiums in many colours, stately Paphiopedilums (the slipper orchids) - You'll learn how to grow all these orchids in expert fashion. We include many other types as well. .

Step by step you'll find out how to grow the different types of orchids, where orchids come from, how they grow in nature, how they get their names and the unique system of hybrid orchid registration. You'll learn how to choose orchids which will grow in your garden. You'll also learn to recognise the important features of shadehouses and greenhouses if you want one in your garden.

We'll show you how and when to divide your orchids, what different types of potting media you can use, how and when to water and feed your plants and how to propagate orchids from the old parts of the plant. You can increase your orchid stock from these propagations or pot them up and maybe sell them at your local market.

Would you like to try growing some orchids as they grow in nature? We'll introduce you to growing suitable orchids on trees, rocks, walls and even in your garden beds. We have a section on growing some orchids mounted on slabs of cork, treefern fibre or wood.

To round out the Course you'll learn how to recognise, treat and guard orchids against pests, how to select a healthy orchid plant which should grow and flower well for you, how to prepare your orchids for shows, the status of orchid conservation, where you can contact other orchid growers in your area and how you might make some money selling blooms from your orchids.

When you've finished the Basic Level Course you'll have your complete Manual to refer to if you need answers to orchidaceous questions.

Of course if you choose to do our Advanced Level Course in Orchid Growing, you'll be learning enough to let you to work confidently in the orchid industry. You could get a job looking after orchids in a general nursery or garden centre. You might even start your own orchid business.

We provide all Basic Level students with some recommendations about particular orchids which should be suitable for their particular conditions. All our students receive our Newsletter with up-to-date reports on orchidaceous matters and all are welcome to contact us with questions which we'll do our best to answer.

You'll also be offered the opportunity in the future to attend 'hands on' orchid workshops in a beautiful environment where you can practice at your own pace and refresh the orchid growing skills you've learned with our guidance.
